A memorial service for Rabbi Charles Weinberg, Z”L, will take place at Congregation Beth Israel, 10 Dexter Street, Malden, MA. The service will begin with mincha at 4:50 pm, followed by a eulogy delivered by Rabbi Max Schreier. The service will conclude with Ma’ariv.

Rabbi Charles Weinberg, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth Israel of Malden, was the rabbi from 1949 - 1976. He was also a past president of the Rabbinical Council of America, and an associate principal at Maimonides School. Rabbi Weinberg was the driving force behind the construction of Salem Towers, which made Congregation Beth Israel the first synagogue in the United States to build an affordable senior housing complex.

About the speaker:

Rabbi Max N. Schreier is a graduate of Yeshiva College and received smicha from RIETS. He was honored with a Doctor of Divinity by Yeshiva University for his work for the Yeshiva and the community.

He has been the Rabbi of the Avenue N. Jewish Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. for the past 45 years. He has served as President of the Rabbinical Council of America, and is a past president of the Rabbinic Alumni of RIETS. He has received many awards and honors. Last year he was honored by the Orthodox Union as one of seven Rabbis who have given more than 50 years of distinguished leadership to the Orthodox Jewish Community.

Rabbi Schreier knew Rabbi Charles Weinberg for more than 50 years. Their friendship was maintained by frequent meetings in Israel, which Rabbi Schreier visits regularly, and by sharing many events. Like Rabbi Weinberg, Z”L, Rabbi Schreier was a student and disciple of Rabbi Soloveitchik, ZT”L.
